Introduction

The release notes for ids-1.1.2 package contain a summary of changes made since ids-1.1.1 package. It describes recently added, changed or removed tools of Traffic Scanner project.

What's new

ids-1.1.2 corrects major hardware bug in interface to mother-card communication and minor software improvements.

Hardware

  • Fixed interface to mother-card communication causing probe to freeze after few hundreds of packets

Software

  • ids-daemon brings -S switch, which enables user to choose post restart script to be executed after hardware restart. Intended to restore applications as Snort
  • new installation system
  • kernel drivers improvements
minor bugfixes:
  • idsctl - enabling all ibufs during startup
  • idsctl - prefetch status printed identification corrected
  • more brief syslog messages
  • README & pkgtool - added post-install step to export CS_XML_INDEX_PATH if installed not in default directory

Upgrading from previous releases of Traffic Scanner package

If you are upgrading from a previous release of Traffic Scanner package please perform a complete reinstall. Read the README file for more information.
