NIC
The goal of the NIC project (4 port Network Interface Card) is to evaluate
our hardware platform, performance of bus system and software drivers etc.
The NIC was the first running application developed on COMBO6 cards and its
being ported to all our cards.
Current state
- 06/2008 - nic-2.0.0 package released
- 03/2008 - expected date of new NetCOPE based package for COMBO6X and SFPRO cards
- 01/2007 - new completely revised package nic-1.2.0 released
- 06/2006 - improved throughput; bus master DMA controlled by PowerPC; design available for COMBO6X and SFPRO cards.
- 06/2005 - design available for all interface cards - MTX, SFP, XFP
- 06/2004 - second version: CRC computation moved to HW
- 12/2003 - first version: whole packets are processed in SW, poor performance
