Netopeer meeting minutes #62

Date: August 31, 2005
Minute-man:Lada
Attendees:Jarda, Lada, Marek, Ondra
Apologies:Mirek

Review of actions

  • 60.1 - Lada: arrange the anonymous access and web interface to Subversion repository.

Assigned to Andrea, under consideration are the WebDAV/DeltaV access and a more comprehensive system Trac.

  • 61.1 - Ondra: review and test web interfaces to Subversion, send report to the team list

    Done.

Team changes

As Ondra will soon leave the team, it is necessary to complete the tasks and try to resolve the issues where he is involved, namely:

  • Extend the repository library by implementing locks and a persistent variable pointing to the current configuration
  • Try to work around the problem that the Subversion library sends its output to stdout breaking Netopeer frontend operation

Besides Jan Vales, who is supposed to join the team in September, new students would be very welcome - we have to organise a promo event.

Documentation

Liberouter web now automatically translates reStructuredText and DocBook sources stored in the ''web'' module of the CVS into HTML. We should thus prepare a new structure for Netopeer pages and write the contents.

Lada will check with support the options for presenting developer documentation written in Doxygen on the web.

Schema

Two issues have to be resolved before we can start writing the new schema:

  • Hints for frontends: generic hints (public name of the element, rendering information, help strings) will be written directly to the schema under a special namespace. Frontend will be able to extend or override these by specific hints written in another file (using the RELAX NG extension mechanisms).
  • Representation of packet filters - see the next section

Packet filters

Jarda and Lada discussed possible representations of packet filters with David Antos, who studies them as one of the main topics of his thesis. He sent us a chapter with an overview of the state-of-the-art. It will be worthwhile to check it first (and the references it contains) before we make a decision. The general idea is to select a flexible representation allowing for translation into as many configuration languages as possible.

Any other business

Next meeting will take place at the usual time and day, i.e., on Thursday, September 8.

New actions

  • 62.1 - Lada: talk to support about including Doxygen among supported documentation formats.
