Liberouter
The aim of the Liberouter project is the development of a dual-stack (IPv6 and IPv4) gigabit router based on the standard PC architecture with a high-performance hardware accelerator of packet forwarding and filtering. This way we can improve the throughput of a PC router platform compared to the software-only solution.
Current state
  • 11/2006 - fully functional firmware available
  • 07/2006 - design without output packet editor functional in hardware
  • 12/2005 - a first phase of the Liberouter design with bounded functionality is running in SW simulation
  • 06/2005 - NIFIC project was derived from the first Liberouter prototype
  • 01/2005 - a first functional prototype of the Liberouter design - network interface card with hardware packet filtration - was presented at a review of the 6NET project
